Length
There is no 'official' minium length for assignments. However, I would suggest that around 250 - 300 words is usually quite sufficient. This will cover around one side of A4 paper if you follow my presentation guidlines below.
You should concentrate on accuracy - i.e. correct grammar and use of vocabulary - not length.
A short assignment with few errors will get a higher mark than a long one with many errors.
Please do not write very long assignments (more than 500 words). You will not get a higher mark for writing more.
Submission
You may submit your assignment by email or as hard copy.
If you submit by email make sure you use this address:
alex_assignment@ymail.com
Please write the course and the assignment number in the email subject line.
Example: Intermediate Cert General English out-of-class assignment 1
Save your assignment as .rtf or .doc and attach it to your email message. Do not include your assignment in the body of the message.
Please do not use inappropriate or obscure file formats.
These include .xls (for sreadsheets, not text documents), and .jpg (for graphics).
You will receive an automated reply if your assignment has been received.
If you do not receive a reply, check the address and try sending it again.
(Please do not send your assigment to my other email address.)
Presentation
If possible, submit your assigment in type-written form.
Use white A4 paper.
Use a common text font such as Times New Roman or Arial at 12pt size in black.
Set the line spacing to 1.5 or 2 lines - this will allow space for my comments.
Do not use a cover sheet.
Write your name in the form English name + Chinese surname.
Example: Doris Wong.
If you do not have an English name, please write the name we use in class.
Example K P Cheung
Or write your full Chinese name (in English text)
Example Wong Mei Ling
Write the course name. Example: Introductory Cert in General English.
Write the assigmnet number. Example:Out-of-class assignment 1
If you do not have access to a computer, you may submit your assignment in hand-written form.
Write on alternate lines to allow space for my comments.
